August 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review

POPSUGAR Must Have is a monthly subscription box filled with full-sized fashion, beauty and home items, curated by Lisa Sugar and her team of editors. The box is $39.95 a month, or less if you subscribe for 3 or 6 months.  The total value of the box is always over $100, and most of the times the items are worth it, so I think it`s a pretty good deal. The August POPSUGAR Must Have is a special box because it`s their 5th anniversary and all the goodies are party and friendship oriented. As always the first thing I reach out to when I open the box is their very informative card, where you can find details and retail prices of each item in the box.

Lets see all the surprises in the August 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have Box:

1. PASTEL Cheers Lacquered Tray ($28) – It`s impossible not to grin when you see this joyful tray adorned with the word “Cheers!” surrounded by colorful confetti. Use the tray to serve your guests drinks, as a catch-all tray for your phone, keys, and other daily items, or on a coffee table to enhance your decor.

IMG_4087

I absolutely love this tray. It`s super girly and cute, and it makes me happy just looking at it. It is very well made, it doesn`t look or feel cheap and it’s definitely something I will display somewhere in my house.

2. FIRST AID BEAUTY 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask ($38) – Celebrate yourself with a quick and easy pampering session by applying this problem-solving mask to your face. After a nourishing 10 minutes, it will make your skin look brighter and firmer.

IMG_4091

I’ve tried a couple of First Aid Beauty products that I received from subscription boxes, but I never had this 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask before. I loved the tingling sensation from this mask and the gel-like texture. It’s very easy and fun to apply, it’s not messy and it left my skin super smooth, soft and fresh. I will continue using it at least once or twice a week.

3. DOGEARED Friendship Bracelet With Small Open Heart ($34) – Thank you for being such loyal friends. We hope you love this precious friendship bracelet as much as we do. It`s a symbol of our appreciation to you, but we also don’t mind if you gift a friend with it to show them how much you care.

IMG_4098

While I don’t think I will ever spend $34 on this bracelet, I am very glad I got it in my box. It is super adorable, I already wore it a few times and it always makes me smile when I look at it.

4. MERI MERI Gold Glitter Candles ($7.50) – Glitter always makes candles sparkle even more! These white and gold shimmering candles are sure to make any event with loved ones even more memorable.

IMG_4088

These candles are really cute. I will probably just wait until November and use them for my birthday 🙂

5. FRINGE STUDIO Free Spirit Journal – Sponsored by JEEP ($16) – A pretty notebook is the perfect location to record your favorite milestones and memories. This rose gold version features a chic ribbon so you never lose your place as you aim to find your true north.

IMG_4094

One of my favorite items from the box is this notebook. It’s super compact and cute, and it’s something that I will absolutely buy myself when I see in the store. I needed one at the moment so I can keep a track of different events that I have and also write down notes related to my job.

6. GOODIE GIRL COOKIES Chocolate Chunk ($2.95) – Treat yourself sans guilt with some of our favorite cookies. The delectable sweets are free of gluten and peanuts without skimping on taste.

IMG_4093

Those cookies were pretty good. Me and my son finished them in a minute. 🙂

Special Extra: SHOPTIQUES.COM $25 Gift Card – Loved that small boutique you visited while on vacation? With the help of Shoptiques, you can still shop it when you get home. Choose a stylish item from boutiques across the globe with this gift card.

img_4115.jpg

This gift card is a nice surprise. I will definitely use it as soon as I have some free time to look over their website and choose something interesting.

The Verdict: The total value of this box is $151 and I think that it was very well curated. One thing that I would change if I could is the candles, just because I won`t put them in use anytime soon. POPSUGAR Must Have Box has always been one of my favorite boxes and I would highly recommend trying it if you are into subscription boxes. Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil Review

Well-defined eyebrows are very important. They frame the eye and can totally change the look of your face. I am always on the hunt for great brow products. I have tried a couple of well known brands and I feel that they work good for me, but not as great, as I would wish to. I am confident that I have finally found brow pencil that gives my brows a natural look and every time I look in the mirror, I am happy with my brows.:)

image-38360

Billion Dollar Brows is the only cosmetic company dedicated exclusively to eyebrows.

Learn About the Brand:

Eyebrows are one of the most important features of our faces – and yet they are often the most neglected. We believe that beautiful brows are a right, not a privilege. Our products are priced fairly so that you don’t have to break the bank to have Billion Dollar Brows.
Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil ($18)a unique product that will set you free from the headache of finding cosmetics that match your hair color. Universal Brow Pencil is a mechanical, self-sharpening pencil which goes on smooth and natural for all hair colors and skin tones.
image-38347

Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil is dual-ended. It has pencil on one side and eyebrow brush on the opposite. I absolutely love the small size of the spoolie, because is the right size for combing my brows without swiping away the concealer or foundation that is around the brows. I comb my brows with it before applying the pencil to shape them, and after I apply the pencil to soften and get everything into place. It`s also gentle on the skin, unlike some other big spoolie brushes that make the skin around my brows red.

image-38361

I have blonde hair and black eye brows, and finding the right color brow pencil has always been my biggest issue. A lot of them make my brows look too dark for my blonde hair, or they are lighter than my brows and you can totally see the color difference. Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil match perfectly my brows. It is very easy to apply,  goes on smoothly, blends easily, does not smudge and once it dries, lasts all day.

image-38362

Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil is my new favorite brow product. I also tried it on my friend`s brows who is african-american and the pencil matched her brows perfect. For darker skin tones and hair color, apply the pencil until you reach the desired shade and apply less for lighter skin tones and hair colors. I will highly recommend this brow pencil to anyone.

Price: $18                       Availability: Billion Dollar Brow, Kohl.com and in-store at Kohl’s

Try The World Portugal Box Review

Try The World has always been one of my favorite food subscription boxes. I love to travel and taste food from different places, and thanks to Try The World I have the opportunity to discover different cuisines from the comfort of my own home. Every month or every two months they send a signature box filled with 7 to 8 gourmet products curated by expert chefs. So far I have received Try The World boxes from Marrakesh, Morocco Buenos Aires, Argentina and Japan. I have never been disappointed with any of Try The World boxes. Even if I don`t like everything from the box, there are still stuff that I would love, use for awhile and even consider purchasing again. They ship in a beautiful, sturdy tail box that is great for storing jewelry, pictures or collections. Each Try The World box arrives with a cultural guide that includes the story behind the products and recipes to make them with. This month theme is Portugal. As always the box was jam-full and me and my family had so much fun opening and testing everything out of the box.

My Try The World Portugal Box contains the following eight products:

Casa Lucena Lemon Cookies: They are made according to an old, Portuguese recipe and are crisp and buttery, so its hard to resist finishing the whole box in one sitting.

I wasn`t too impressed with those cookies, as I am a cookie monster and have tried better ones before, but they was not bad either. My 3 years old loved them.

Rocha Pear Jam: This jam is made with rocha pears, a variety that is native to Portugal and grown exclusively on the country`s western coast. The variety is named after Pedro Antonio Rocha, the farmer who discovered the variety on his farm centuries ago.

I put the jar on a biscuit and it tasted fantastic. It`s not too sweet and it has a lot of flavour to it.

Caramelized Onions With Port Wine: Casa da Prisca specializes in producing the same culinary specialties that the company`s founders grew up to know and love over four generations ago. This spread is made with port, one of Portugal most iconic spirits.

20160516_235838

This is the only product that I haven`t tried yet. I cant wait to try it though onto some appetizers.

Extra-Virgin Olive Oil: This bitter and slightly spicy olive oil is a perfect addition to a variety of dishes. The olives used to make it are grown in Central Portugal and are cold pressed to preserve their complex aroma and distinct flavor.

20160516_235624

Olive oil, say no more! My family loves it. I put it in my salad and it tastes awesome.

Apple and Cinnamon Black Tea: This infusion is made by blending black tea with leaves, flowers, and fruit grown in the mountains of Serra da Estrela in  eastern Portugal. Apple and cinnamon aroma makes this tea a wonderful, cold weather pick-me-up.

I had a friend over my house and I made for us a cup of black tea. The whole place was smelling amazing. She only drinks black tea, and she said this was the best one she ever tried.

Codfish Seasoning: This organic herb blend, made free of pesticides, is best used with cod, though it`s delicious with any type of delicate white fish.

I actually only tried this seasoning on a chicken with potatoes and it was delicious. The blend contains bay leaf and parsley, garlic and sea salt. I will definitely try cooking more meals with it.

Canned Jack Mackerel: Jack mackerel is one of the most common types of seafood in Portugal. Briosa Gourmet wraps their canned mackerel in beautiful packaging reminiscent of hydraulic tiles, an art form in which pigments are pressed onto cement.

This was one of my best favorite products from the Portugal Box among wit the olive oil. I put some of the olive oil on a toast and I added a mackerel on top. OMG it was amazing. I wish there was more of them.

Piri Piri Hot Sauce: this sauce was first introduced to Europe in the 15th century when Christopher Columbus came back home with piri piri peppers. Since then, the sauce has been used throughout the country.

20160517_000304

I love hot sauce and this Piri Piri sauce is unique. It`s a little sweet and hot, but not overpowering. I will use it any time I need a little spicy in my life.

Overall I loved my Try The World Portugal Box. Everything was a decent size and great quality. I would definitely recommend this subscription box to anyone who love trying quality and traditional delicious food from around the globe. Just be careful, it is addictive.
